Controversies

Norm Macdonald

In the mid-1990s, former Weekend Update host Sample Macdonald was fired from SNL for tackling taboo topics counting the highly controversial 1994 manslaughter trial of O.J.

Simpson. The joke was criticized as transphobic.^[39][40]Weekend Update locked away previously come under fire footing a 2016 joke about influence dating app Tinder adding 37 gender identity options, a beam which Colin Jost jokingly named, "Why Democrats lost the election".^[41]
